Weddings & Joinings

Our intent is to help a couple create a service which they will fondly remember and cherish for the rest of their lives.

OUR QUALIFICATIONS:

We each have the authority to solemnize weddings in the State of Ohio, and elsewhere in the United States, so we can offer a couple to have one or the other of us to preside, or they can have both of us preside.  We have found that some couples prefer a male to do their service while others prefer a female, and still others would like to have a couple preside at their celebration.

When a couple comes to us we want them to know that we do not have an agenda for their service.  They can have their service where they want to have it and how they want it to flow.  Most couples appreciate some input as to vow forms and ring forms, blessings, readings and other possible parts of a service such as the lighting of the unity candle, drinking of wine and breaking the glass, pouring of different colors of sand, statement of congregational commitment to the couple.  The service can be long or short, with or without music, religious or non religious.  Our attire can be casual or formal.  We wear what the couple wants us to wear.

We prefer to arrange for a couple to meet with us to plan their service, but this is not a requirement.  We could communicate on the phone and read material to them to see what they like.  Or we can communicate by e-mail.   When a couple comes to meet with us we will copy things that they think they might like to incorporate into their service so that they can take it along and decide on the final form.  Usually, after that initial meeting there is no need to meet again.  Any further communication can be done by e-mail until the day of the rehearsal or of the service itself.
