REIKI
THE MEANING OF REIKI
There are two kanji (characters, or drawings) of the Japanese word Reiki.Rei (pronounced “ray”) means spirit or soul, referring to higher or universalspirit or soul. It is the wisdom which comes from Godde.Ki (pronounced “Key”) means energy, life force. It originally connoted a senseof air or atmosphere, that which pervades and surrounds.Together the two kanjis symbolize the universal life-force energy which is thehealing principal, an enveloping energy of body, soul and spirit.
WHAT IS REIKI
Reiki is not a religion. It holds no doctrines creeds or contradictions to theUniversal Laws of Consciousness and Love. No matter where the person may beat a certain point in life, Reiki will harmonize and embrace one’s philosophicalcenter point adding to it the Divine Presence.Simply placing one’s hands on oneself, or another person, allows the energy toflow through the individual. It fills the healer’s body first and then flows out of theheart through the healer’s hands into the individual who is receiving the healing.Reiki is unversal energy. It is safely used any time, any place. It isunconditional, applicable to all purposes, conditions or situations. It is anextremely powerful healing energy. It is one of the few forms of healing that canbe used to heal oneself.
WHAT DOES REIKI DO
Reiki will either give or take away the proper amount of energy to balance themind, body and spirit. It will effect change in the chemical structure of the bodyhelping to rebuild muscles, nerves, bone structure, and to regenerate organs.Reiki healing is a pure energy form. When it is combined with the sinceredesire to the healee, who is willing to effect a cleansing within their emotional andspiritual consciousness, a total healing occurs. We must remember that the energy of the Godde-force is neutral and awaitspositive, productive empowerment by the healee. The healer plays an instrumentalpart in the transformation, and yet, ultimately, it is up to the healee to manifestharmony and balance in her or his life.
REIKI IS Godde’s love in its purest form. It is completely unconditional. It demandsnothing of the giver or the receiver. It propounds no creed or dogma. It requiresno specific belief in the supreme being or in Reiki itself.Used in its traditional form, as developed by Dr. Usui in the Usui System ofNatural Healing, Reiki heals the body and emotions, bringing them into balanceand promoting health, happiness, prosperity and long life.
THE REIKI PRINCIPLES
